“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence therefore is not an act but a habit.”

This was the winning principle of GSCHS D’ Voce Choir in grabbing the limelight during the Mindanao Music Competition for Young Artist (NAMCYA) Competition held at Ariesgado College Gym, Tagum City on September 17, 2011.

With their conductress, Mrs. Nida P. Lumunsad ,SPA Coordinator, the 24- Member Choir bagged awards for their overall performance beating Davao City National High School and Tagum City National High School, both from Region XI, that made them the only qualifier from Mindanao to the finals.

The Philippine Choral Directors Association (PCDA) judges of the said competition was impressed as D’ Voce sang “Alma Redemptoris”, a Latin song, “Credo” and “Calvary Medley”.
“I was overjoyed and thankful  of the result,” stated Mrs. Lumunsad.

On the other hand, D’ Voce Choir member, Zandro B. Zulueta of  IV- Caparas related of how he and his choir mates felt during and after it was announced that they were the champion.
“During the contest, we were so nervous at the same time excited. Then as it was announced that we were the champions, we were so overwhelmed that tears flowed from our eyes. We did not expect to win.”

D’ Voce Choir was trained daily during their specialization time and a whole day  practice thereafter a week before the contest.
Moreover, The D’ Voce Choir is qualified for the NAMCYA National Level at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), Manila on November 25, 2011.
