Fiery harmonious spans of batons, as if casting a spell to the crowd— making you turn your head, be captured and mesmerized by the motions of melodies, making the night quiver with anticipation and be bathe with glorious beauty of passion that the members of the band sends to the crowd.

Yet, before they achieved such an immaculate performance that sends the whole crowd with amusement. The roots of their passion came from the dedications of the students, teachers and trainors to bring back the glory after 8 years, it was 2015 when the triumph last came to the halls of GSCNHS. Despite the opening of face to face classes last school year, the drum and lyre of GSCNHS wasn’t able to immediately build the old legacy of the school, fear was still creeping in the nerves of the mass after the epidemic.

Now, with the burning devotion and fondness of the students, teachers and trainors to our home, they brought us a performance with excellence showing off how dedicated these performers are to bring the title of Champion to our humble do​mi​cile. The scorching heat while practicing to perfection, the cold night comforts their tired bodies as they carry their instruments to go home, yet still, their smiling faces, their chatters on how the practice was different that day from yesterday brought them with joy— a memory they could look back all together, magnificently. Still, challenges are present, lack of equipment, the difference of schedules of the students, a practice area that are not available, but miracles do knock to the doors for those who are hopeful and passionate to their love of performing, challenges after challenges but with the helping hands surrounding the GSCNHS— the drum and lyre band was able to pay off the hardships with success.

Stiff bodies, dripping of rice grain sweats and sighs of tiredness is always in the other side of the coin, yet— the victory is always there in the other side and with blazing love and passion to send chills to the crowd, to make the night tremble with batons waving in the air, flaglettes and banners fluttering in the deep night, drums rolling with clamorous beats, lyres singing— soaring in the ears of the mass, with beaming smiles from the students and jubilant smiles of teachers and trainors can be seen in the midst of the crowd. Victory perfectly fits the heads of these hard workers. With dedication, compassion, love, and the right nurture of people around us can make us do the most glorious thing we could even do, and with these elements, GSCNHS drum and lyre band tasted victory, sweetly.
